Whether you want to incorporate your company or transfer its registered office to your home, one of the essential documents for your statutory filings is proof of address for the director. In this article, we explain which document to provide and how to prepare it for your filings.

When incorporating a company or transferring its registered office, you must prove:

• your right to make premises available to the company;

• that you will actually receive post addressed to your company there (particularly from the tax authorities).

This address must be supported by a valid document for filings with the commercial court registries or INPI to be accepted.

To prove that the director's home is the premises used as the registered office, the following documents are generally accepted:

1. Utility bill less than three months old for electricity, gas, water or landline (mobile phone bills are not accepted). The registered office address must appear as the place of supply.

2. Tax notice: the most recent tax assessment or a document relating to property tax can also serve as proof.

3. Proof of ownership: if the director owns the property, proof of ownership (for example, a copy of the notarial deed) may be used.

4. Tenancy agreement: if the premises are rented, the director's lease may be provided, provided it is in their name, currently valid and does not prohibit company registration.
