In France, electronic signatures are governed by several legal instruments, including:
eIDAS Regulation (EU n° 910/2014): It governs the recognition of electronic signatures in the EU, ensuring their legal validity in cross-border transactions.
Code civil, article 1367: It recognises electronic signatures as a legal means of authenticating a document, equivalent to a handwritten signature if it meets security requirements.
Décret n° 2001-272: It sets out the conditions for using electronic signatures, particularly regarding security and authentication of signatories.
